Opera Salvaje is a gated community at the foothills of the mountains of Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. The Opera Salvaje neighborhood is just a short 10 minute drive to the beach town of Jaco. Founded in 1995 by a French-Canadian with a vision for a unique community living in harmony with nature, this neighborhood is set in a lush valley surrounded by hills and beautiful scenery. The phrase “Opera Salvage” in Spanish means “Savage Opera”, as the area is known for the abundant sounds of nature, including birds and other animals, particularly in the morning.
With approximately 60 home sites, most of which are built on, the neighborhood futures high-end Spanish-colonial style constructions, large properties, and an excellent infrastructure including very good water that is fully drinkable. Being one of the safer communities in the area, it also features a high level of security, friendly guard service, and a large community lap-pool that can be used for a small monthly fee.
Homeowners fees are low, approximately $125 per month, and the neighborhood is mostly full-time residence with a number of rental properties. Being an international community, you will find your neighbors in this area are from many different countries and walks of life.
There are walking trails that lead up to the mountains from the community, as well as easy access to the beach, approximately a 10 minute bike ride, or 20 minute walk down a farm road and across the highway. The beach of Hermosa is well known by surfers and many surfers like to life in the Opera Salvaje neighborhood due to its close proximity to Hermosa’s consistent waves.
