Is Esterillos the right Expat Community For You?
Playa Esterillos is a quiet small fishing village located on the beach on the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica. The beach is 7 km long and is perfect for long walks, swimming and has several good surf spots. Its waves and natural beauty make this area an ideal place for those who are looking for activity but also enjoy tranquility. The area consist of the following towns which all have access to the beach, Esterillos Oeste, Esterillos Centro and Esterillos Este. Esterillos Oeste is the most developed of the three but still is a very small tropical town with charm. Here you find a grocery store and several restaurants and bars. At this side of the beach you find tide pools.
This town is not a crowded touristy place. On the weekend it can get a bit busier with Costa Ricans visiting the beach and camping out under the palm and almond trees.
On the highway near the Esterillos central entrance is a gas station located. Esterillos Este is home to many high end beachfront home and boutique hotels. In the Esterillos mountain area there are several newer developments that offer lots, condominiums and houses. Several properties and lots are now on the market and for sale in Esterillos.
Parrita is a town that is located 15 minutes away and there you will find many amenities such as banks, large supermarkets, stores and shops. The town Jaco is a 25 minute drive up north and is a bustling beach town. Here you find two private bilingual schools, medical services, restaurants, bars, casino and movie theater.
This is an area preferred by locals and expats who are looking for a quiet place to call home with easy access to larger towns and their facilities.
